Dedicated to Devotion

A new year is now opening before us. Will it be a year of promise? Will it be a year of trials? What will unfold for our lives? There is no way of knowing for certain what will transpire in these coming days. One thing we do know for certain is that Jesus Christ is Lord and His Lordship will not change or be shaken. This is important for us.

We are invited by our Lord into deepening our relationship with Him. Over the past two years we have looked at the issues of preparing for revival, and the adventure of discipleship--this year we look to deepening our devotion to Christ. What does this entail?

Deepening one's devotion to Christ is both about the Inward Journey as well as the Outward Journey. Building our devotion to Christ is about building into our spiritual experience intentional spiritual disciplines. We will look to these in some detail. It will also involve facing and overcoming the inevitable obstacles that will come our way in this endeavor. Learning to overcome obstacles is so important because neither the carnal self nor our spiritual enemy will be all too pleased that we dare to get serious about this. We will follow up by looking to some biblical patterns for living this inward life. From here we will look to developing the inward graces that we need to become like Christ. Finally we will investigate how all of this makes a difference in developing outward fruit for the glory of God in our community.

Christ is calling us to make a difference in our world. This difference begins with the inner transformation which comes from an intentionally devoted life. Let us move forward with the united intention to become the people Christ calls us to be in this coming year.

Soli Deo Gloria!
Pastor Dave
